Today, begins a weekly question-and-answer series, designed to give fans a unique look at the two-time defending Big South champion Lady Flames volleyball team. Kendle Rollins, one of five newcomers on this year's roster, opens the series.
Kendle Rollins, one of two Ohio natives on this year's team (also Courtney Boggs), is a 6-0 middle blocker from Lebanon, Ohio. She comes to Liberty after leading the Lebanon volleyball team to a 22-3 record and a Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC) title as a senior.

Rollins hit .562 with 272 kills for the Warriors in 2008, earning first-team All-Ohio honors at the Division I level. She also garnered GWOC South Player of the Year, District 15 Player of the Year and Dayton Daily News All-Area Player of the Year recognition last season.

Rollins and her teammates opened the preseason with a pair of practices on Tuesday. The Lady Flames are preparing for their 2009 season opener, a 4 p.m. match against UNC Greensboro on Aug. 28 at the Hilton Garden Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Va.

What is the most exciting thing you did this summer?
I came to the best college in the world! :)

If you could add a match to this year's schedule, which team would you want to play?
I would add Nebraska to the schedule, just so we could show them who should have won in NCAA Tournament last year.

What is your favorite volleyball memory?
My favorite volleyball memory was making it to nationals for the first time during my sophomore year of high school.

How many text messages do you send per month?
Probably more than I should...

Who is your best friend currently playing collegiate volleyball for another team, and who do they play for?
Becca Berger, who is playing for Columbus State Community College and MacKenzy Harper, who is playing at Auburn.

What is your favorite vacation spot?
Wilmington Beach, N.C.

What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
Isaiah 40:29-31
"He gives power to those who are tired and worn out; He offers strength to the weak. Even youths will become exhausted and young men will give up. But those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."
I love this verse because I can always go back and read it to find comfort and strength, no matter what I'm going through. It reminds me to always trust God to restore my strength, even when I feel like I can't go on.

What is your favorite food?

My dream beach volleyball partner would be …
Phil Dalhausser

Do you have any pre-match habits/rituals, and what are they?
I always listen to metal to get myself pumped and excited to play.

The most impressive thing about Coach Pinder is …
His determination and dedication to taking this program to the next level and winning.

What is the best advice you have ever received, and who gave it to you?
My mom told me that I won't be able to please everyone on this earth, no matter how hard I try. So, she told me that I need to live to please my God and not just the people of this world.
