Liberty freshman Olivia Charnuski ran a leg for the first-place women's 4 x 100 relay squad, Sunday at the Canada Junior Track & Field Championships. Her team from the Laurel Creek Track & Field Club also set a new meet record with its performance at UPEI Canada Games Place in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

Charnuski (Elmira, Ontario) joined Jellisa Westney, Tia Semplonius and Chisomo Mchaina to clock a record-setting time of 47.79 seconds. The victorious quartet from Ontario outdistanced the race runner-up team from Ottawa Lions TFC by more than a second, in claiming the national relay championship.

Charnuski's gold medal in the relay complemented her third-place finish in the women's 100-meter hurdles final the previous day. The race also marked the second relay record she has been a part of this year. Charnuski, Marie Williams (R-Sr., Tampa, Fla.), Krystle Matthews (So., Chesapeake, Va.) and Rachel Houseknecht (So., Hughesville, Pa.) eclipsed the Liberty shuttle hurdles standard on April 24, when they clocked a 59.10 at the Penn Relays.
