Liberty senior Andrea Beckles has earned a berth on the 2009 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I Women's All-Academic Track & Field Team. The sprinter garnered this distinction on the basis of her accomplishments on the track and in the classroom.

Beckles (Lynchburg, Va.), one of a record 531 student-athletes honored nationally, graduated in May with a 3.46 GPA in elementary education. Three weeks later, she wrapped up her collegiate track & field career by running the 100-meter dash at the NCAA Division I East Regional Track & Field Championships in Greensboro, N.C.

Beckles earned a pair of All-Big South accolades as a senior, placing third in the indoor 60-meter dash and third in the outdoor 100-meter dash. At the Big South indoor meet, Beckles lowered her school 60-meter dash record to 7.56 seconds. She also helped the Lady Flames' 4 x 100 (45.95) and 4 x 200 relay (1:37.99) quartets set school records during her career.

On April 8, Beckles was named both the Big South and ECAC Division I Women's Track Athlete of the Week. The award came on the heels of her stellar performance at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational, where Beckles won the 100, 200 and 4 x 100 relay. Her 100 (11.74) and 200-meter dash (24.19) clockings both established personal bests, with her 100 effort meeting the regional standard.
