Trey Jacobs and the Flames will open up their 2009 spring practice schedule tomorrow night under the lights at Williams Stadium.

Liberty's 2009 opener against FBS powerhouse West Virginia might still be more than five months away, but the Flames will begin preparing for that matchup and the other 10 contests on their upcoming schedule when spring practice opens tomorrow, under the lights at Williams Stadium.

Weather permitting, the Flames will host the first of 16 scheduled practices over the next month, culminating in the program's annual spring game on April 18. Kick off for the intra-squad scrimmage is scheduled for 1 p.m., at Williams Stadium.

Liberty, who finished the 2008 season with its highest final national ranking at No. 14, thanks to tying a program mark with a 10-2 overall record, will be searching for its third straight Big South title this upcoming fall.

The Flames have dominated the league over the past several seasons, having reeled off 11-straight league victories en route to back-to-back league titles. Under three-time Big South Coach of the Year Danny Rocco, the Flames have dropped only two conference games by a combined five total points and have the nation's third-longest FCS conference winning streak.

Over the next four weeks, Liberty will be using the following practice schedule – Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7 p.m., Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. and Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. All practices, which are free and open to the public, will be held on the newly installed turf at Williams Stadium and are subject to change due to inclement weather.
