Kaylee West and the Lady Flames will take on the Hampton Lady Pirates in a doubleheader at home tomorrow starting at 2 p.m.

The Lady Flames will host their second doubleheader of 2009 when the Lady Pirates of Hampton come to town Tuesday afternoon. The first game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.

The Lady Pirates (13-13) come to Lynchburg on a six-game winning streak, after claiming the title at the Lady Pirates Classic in Virginia Beach, Va., Sunday afternoon. Hampton enjoyed three shutouts during the tournament over Maryland-Eastern Shore, Winston-Salem State and Queensborough, and also handed losses to Barton and Coppin State.

Hampton is led by freshman Kelsei Saunders, who is batting .394 with 28 hits, 21 RBIs and eight home runs. Senior pitcher Amanda Black, who was named Tournament MVP at the Lady Pirates Classic, is 8-7 on the year with a 2.47 ERA and 59 strikeouts.

Liberty (10-15) enters the matchup with Hampton on a three-game win streak, after defeating Purdue, 4-2, at the FAU Parents' Weekend Tournament March 15 in Boca Raton, Fla., and sweeping Norfolk State in a home-opening doubleheader, last Thursday, in Lynchburg, 4-0 and 3-1.

The Lady Flames are led by senior Beth Bennett, who is batting .250 with 17 hits, 10 RBIs and three home runs. Pitcher Tiffani Smith is 5-6 overall, with a 1.96 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 78.2 innings of work.

The showdown marks the 39th and 40th meetings between Liberty and Hampton, since the Lady Flames joined Division I athletics in 1994. Liberty is 32-6 all-time against the Lady Pirates, and swept the 2008 doubleheader, 3-0 and 3-2, at Hampton.
