Jaime Watson claimed her third Big South Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week honor in the last two seasons.

Liberty senior Jaime Watson has won the first Big South Choice Hotels Women's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honor of the 2008-09 season, it was announced Wednesday morning.

Watson (Ravenna, Mich.) got her senior season off to a blazing start at the Liberty Kickoff on Dec. 4. She ran an indoor personal-best time of 56.01 in the women's 400-meter dash, winning the race by 2.67 seconds. With her effort, Watson climbs to the No. 2 spot on Liberty's all-time performance list, trailing only teammate Chenoa Freeman (Jr., Lincoln, Del.).

Watson, a four-time Big South 800-meter champion, won a pair of Big South Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards last season. She garnered the weekly honor on March 11 and May 7.

Watson and the rest of the Liberty men's and women's track & field performers are taking an extended break from competition. The next meet on the schedule is the Liberty Open, slated for Jan. 23-24 at the Tolsma Indoor Track Center.
