Liberty Flames' senior Priit Pihl and sophomore Jarda Trojan teamed to capture the doubles crown as the Flames hosted the Liberty Alumni Invitational Fall Tournament this past weekend on the Esbenshade-Hershey Tennis Courts.

Phil (Saue, Estonia) and Trojan (Prague, Czech Republic) opened the tournament Friday afternoon by taking a closely contested match against Longwood's Jon Blair and Brandon Lindsey, 8-6. The duo then followed with an 8-5 victory over Rashko Patnikov and Toby Guennel, another Longwood pairing. The Liberty senior and sophomore then captured the event's doubles crown Saturday by defeating Virginia's Andrew Downing and Nick Meros in another close match, 9-7.

Not only did the pair have success in doubles, but the two also had a good weekend in singles going 2-of-3 in singles play.

Pihl opened singles play Friday afternoon with a 6-2, 6-2 straight set win over UVa's Michael Downing. The senior then fell to eventual singles champion Nick Meros of Virginia to begin singles play on Saturday, 6-3, 6-4, before rebounding to sweep straight sets from Virginia Tech's Ignacia Roca, 6-1, 6-1.

Meanwhile, Trojan started play Friday with a straight set, 6-3, 6-2 win over Longwood's Lindsey. Saturday, the Flame sophomore defeated another Longwood opponent, Toby Guennel, 6-4, 6-3, before dropping his last match of the day, 6-3, 6-4 to Longwood's Rashko Patnikov.

Liberty's Carlos Cardona (Bogota, Columbia) also posted a 2-1 record in singles at the tournament. The junior dropped his first match of the tournament in three sets, 6-2, 6-7 (9), 6-4 to Longwood's Roger Torres, before coming back to take his two Saturday contests.
