Kallie Corbin won her fifth career Big South Volleyball Player of the Week award.

Liberty junior setter Kallie Corbin has been recognized as the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Volleyball Player of the Week, after leading the Lady Flames to a trio of 3-0 sweeps over conference opponents.

Liberty swept Radford, Coastal Carolina and Charleston Southern last week, improving to 10-1 in Big South play and reclaiming first place in the conference standings. The Lady Flames, who have won four matches in a row, are 19-6 overall.

Corbin (Beaverton, Ore.) played a significant role in the Lady Flames' success, notching at least 33 assists in each contest and setting for an offense which hit .312 on the week. Liberty hit .418 as a team during its Oct. 21 win over Radford, marking the first time the Lady Flames have ever hit .400 against a conference foe.

The Oregonian also made her own offensive contributions, hitting .462 with 13 kills and serving up six aces. Defensively, she came up with 22 digs and ranked second on the team with six blocks for the week.

Corbin reached a milestone against Radford, becoming the fifth player in Liberty history to tally 3,500 career assists. The junior needs just 14 more digs to become the first Lady Flame ever to notch 3,500 assists and 1,000 digs.

For the season, Corbin is ranked among the Big South leaders in two statistical categories. She is second in the conference with 884 assists and sits fourth with 32 aces.

The Big South Player of the Week award is Corbin's first of the season and the fifth of her career. She garnered the honor once as a freshman and three times as a sophomore.

Corbin is the third different Liberty player to be named Big South Player of the Week this season. Nicki Scripko (So., OH, Fayetteville, N.C.) was recognized on Sept. 29 and Chelaine McCarty (Jr., MB, Houston, Ala.) earned the award on Oct. 13.

Liberty will play its next four matches on the road. The Lady Flames' next contest is scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. at Gardner-Webb. Liberty will attempt to complete a season sweep of the Bulldogs, after sweeping Gardner-Webb, 3-0, Oct. 3 at the Vines Center.
