Three players who helped lead No. 25 Liberty to a 31-28 road victory over No. 23 Youngstown State on Saturday were honored today by the Big South Conference. Rashad Jennings, Nick Hursky and Matt Bevins each garnered Big South Player of the Week honors in their respective areas.

A 24-yard field goal as the clock turned to all zeros pushed the Flames' record to 4-0 on the season and extended the nation's longest FCS winning streak to nine games. The victory was the second over a Top 25 program for Liberty under head coach Danny Rocco and the Flames first on the road since defeating No. 15 Appalachian State, 25-19, on Nov. 22, 1997.

Jennings (RB, Sr., Forest, Va.) was named the Big South Choice Hotels Offensive Player of the Week, following a career day on the ground. The running back rushed for a career-high 220 yards on 29 carries, averaging 7.6 yards per rushing attempt.

The senior scored three rushing touchdowns, marking the fifth time during his Liberty career he has rushed for a trio of touchdowns in a single game to extend his Big South record in the statistical category. Following his career-best rushing performance, Jennings now ranks No. 3 in the nation, as the running back is averaging 145.3 rushing yards per game.

With the trio of touchdowns scored, Jennings pushed his career rushing touchdown total to 30, which ranks second best in Big South history and tied for the third highest in program history. The honor marks the sixth time in his career Jennings has been named Big South Offensive Player of the Week, including four times during his Big South Player of the Year season in 2007.

Hursky (LB, Sr., Carnegie, Pa.) led the Flames defensive unit, recording 13 tackles against the Penguins to give him this week's Big South New Balance Defensive Player of the Week honor. The senior added a career-high three tackles for a loss, including an 11-yard sack that pushed Youngstown State out of possible scoring position during the second quarter.

The 13-tackle performance marked the 11th time during Hursky's career the linebacker has finished a game with a double-figure tackle total. The "baker's dozen" outing against the Penguins ranks as the second-highest, single-game tackle total of Hursky's career, falling only behind his 17-tackle game against UConn as a freshman in 2005.

Bevins (K, Fr., Newport News, Va.) sealed Liberty's ninth victory over a ranked FCS opponent in program history, knocking home the game-winning kick as the game clock expired. The 24-yard field goal was the second of the rookie's young career at Liberty, following a 38-yarder against Glenville State on Sept. 6.

For his game-winning heroics, Bevins was named the Big South's Freshman of the Week, giving Liberty its first conference rookie weekly honoree since 2006. The last time a Flame won Big South Freshman of the Week honors was on Nov. 6, when Tim Torrence was named the conference's top freshman after Liberty's 21-0 shutout victory over Western Carolina.

Jennings, Hursky and Bevins, along with the remainder of Liberty's roster, will conclude their current three-game road swing this weekend when the Flames travel to Conway, S.C.

The unbeaten Flames will begin their Big South championship title defense against Coastal Carolina on Saturday evening, for a 7 p.m. contest at Brooks Stadium. The game will be televised live on MASN and Fox Sports South, as part of the Big South Television Network.
