Sebastian Pena earned a victory in No.2 singles during Liberty's Senior Day.
The Liberty men's tennis team hosted UNC Asheville on Saturday, taking the match 5-2.
In doubles action, Liberty took two of the three contests to earn the point. After being down two games in No. 2 doubles, Liberty's Jarda Trojan and Leandro Schujmann rallied to win the match, 8-6. Chad Simpson and Juan Reyes captured the point for the Flames, defeating Asheville's No. 3 doubles tandem, 8-2. Success continued in singles play, as Sebastian Pena defeated Asheville's Tyler Begg in No. 2 sinlges, 6-2, 6-4. In No. 3 singles, Trojan forced the match into a third set, eventually taking the contest 5-7, 7-6(2), 6-3. Schujmann earned a straight set win in No. 5 singles, beating Asheville's Nicholas Thuell, 4-6, 7-5, 6-4. Juan Reyes capped off the evening for the Flames, winning No. 6 singles in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 6-0. With the solid win, the Flames conclude the regular season with a make-up match with Winthrop Sunday afternoon at Eshbenshade-Hershey Tennis Courts. Match time is 12:30 p.m.
