Flames Round 2 Push Moves Liberty Up Leaderboard

No. 35 Liberty led the way during the afternoon flight, carding the best team score during round two of the 2020 General Hackler Championship on Monday.

The Flames finished their second trip around The Dunes Golf & Beach Club (par 72, 7,233 yards) by carding a 5-under par 283, the best afternoon score in the 15-team field.

After shaving five strokes off its score during the morning round, Liberty enters Tuesday's final round in third place with an overall 5-under par 571 (288-283).

The Flames will be sent off the No. 1 tee, starting at 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday, along with the two teams ahead on the leaderboard – No. 26 North Carolina (12-under par 564) and No. 7 Wake Forest (7-under par 569).

Field Reflections:
• No. 26 North Carolina leads the 15-team field following a 12-under par 564 (280-284) carded on Monday.
• The Tar Heels are five shots ahead of No. 7 Wake Forest, who finished day one action with a 7-under par 569 (281-288).
• A total of 18 players finished the first 36 holes of competition in red figures.
• Coastal Carolina's Zack Taylor leads the 84-man field, carding a 10-under par 134 (66-68) during his first two trips around the Chanticleers' home golf course.

Birdies and Bogeys – Liberty Team Notes:
• The Flames finished play on Monday tied for the lead with 119 total pars and ranking first in the field in par-3 scoring (1-under par 2.98 scoring average).
• Liberty was one of seven teams in the 15-team field to post a team total in red figures during the afternoon flight.
• The tournament field played the afternoon round (73.30 scoring average) at nearly a one-stroke improvement over the morning flight (74.17 scoring average).
• Liberty's Alexandre Fuchs led the 84-man field, carding 32 pars in his 36 holes of play on Monday.
• Zach Barbin took full advantage of the par-5 holes, finishing the first two rounds of play with a 6-under par 4.25 scoring average on the par-5 holes.
• Barbin finished the day tied for 19th place with an even par 144 (74-70), thanks to five birdies on the afternoon that led to his 11th round at par or better this year.
• Kieran Vincent posted a birdie on four of the six par-3 holes on Monday and currently is tied for the lead in the 84-man field in par-3 scoring (3-under par 2.63 scoring average).
