The Liberty women's tennis team will play matches in Hawaii, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Liberty will then play against the Hawaii Rainbow Wahine (5-5), Wednesday. The match will begin at 9:30 p.m. Eastern at the UH Tennis Complex.

The Lady Flames bring a two-match winning streak into the week. Liberty most recently defeated Georgia State 4-2 (Feb. 28) and Mount St. Mary's 7-0 (Feb. 29) at home. North Texas has dropped four straight after starting the season 7-2. The Mean Green fell 4-3 at home to Memphis in their most recent contest, Feb. 29.

Hawaii carries a three-match winning streak into its match with Liberty. The Rainbow Wahine topped ASUN member Stetson 6-1, last Wednesday in Honolulu.

Lady Flames News and Notes

  • North Texas holds a 2-0 edge in the all-time series with Liberty. The two teams last met in 2016, a 4-2 win for No. 73 North Texas in Lynchburg. Liberty head coach Jeff Maren spent six seasons as associate head coach of the women's tennis program at North Texas prior to joining the Lady Flames tennis program.
  • Liberty and Hawaii will be squaring off for the first time. The Lady Flames' two matches this week will be their first-ever dual matches in the Aloha State.
  • Liberty's top two doubles units, Kalani Soli and Eloise Saraty and Tiffany Nguyen and Micaela Ode Mitre, are each 7-2 this spring. Collectively, the Lady Flames are 10-0 in the No. 2 doubles spot. Liberty has won the doubles point in eight out of 10 matches and in four straight contests.
  • The Lady Flames' Soli has a perfect 8-0 record in the No. 1 singles position. Soli will be in search of her 40th career singles victory in a Liberty uniform, tomorrow. The Carson, Calif., native holds a 39-10 record since joining the Lady Flames in fall 2018.
  • Freshman Esther Lovato has been a strong presence in the middle of the Liberty lineup with an 8-2 mark. Nguyen has won three straight matches and is 5-4, while sophomore Alexandra Almborg is 5-4 as well.
  • Liberty is 4-1 at home, 1-2 on the road and 1-1 in neutral-site contests in 2020.
  • Tuesday's neutral-site match versus North Texas is Liberty's first since a Jan. 18 showdown against Middle Tennessee in Fort Myers, Fla. Wednesday's away match at Hawaii will be the Lady Flames' first road contest in over a month. Liberty's most recent road match was at Florida Atlantic, Feb. 9.
