Asia Todd was named ASUN Newcomer and Freshman of the Week for the first time on Tuesday.
Liberty's Asia Todd collected her first ASUN Conference women's basketball weekly awards on Tuesday, garnering both the Newcomer of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors.
A Clayton, N.C., native, Todd is Liberty's first ASUN Newcomer of the Week since Emily Lytle on Jan. 28, 2019. She is the Lady Flames' first Freshman of the Week since Mya McMillian on Dec. 10, 2018.
Todd averaged a team-high 15.5 ppg as the Lady Flames closed out the 2019-20 regular season with victories at Lipscomb and Kennesaw State.
Todd paced the Lady Flames with a career-high 24 points last night at Kennesaw State. Eleven of her points came during the fourth quarter as Liberty rallied after trailing entering the period. She also scored on a nifty spin move to the basket with just under two minutes remaining, doubling the Lady Flames' lead from two to four points.
Todd's 24 points eclipsed her previous career high of 20. It marked the most points by a Liberty freshman since Keyen Green recorded a pair of 26-point games during the 2016-17 season.
The Lady Flames (18-11, 11-5 ASUN) earned the No. 3 seed for the 2020 ASUN Women's Basketball Championship. They will open tournament play with a quarterfinal game against No. 6 seed Kennesaw State (13-15, 6-10 ASUN) Saturday at 4 p.m. inside the Vines Center.
