The Liberty Lady Flames lacrosse team will travel to Richmond for a showdown with the Spiders, Saturday. First draw is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Robins Stadium.

Liberty enters Saturday's contest with a 2-2 record, winning its last two contests. The Lady Flames defeated Winthrop 17-9 on Wednesday afternoon at home in their most recent contest. Liberty is 2-0 at home and 0-2 on the road.

Richmond sports a perfect 5-0 mark heading into the matchup. The Spiders are coming off an impressive upset 13-12 victory in overtime at No. 6 Virginia, Wednesday evening.

Liberty and Richmond met in 2019, a narrow 10-9 Spiders victory at the Liberty Lacrosse Field. The Lady Flames are still in search of their first-ever victory over the Spiders in what will be the seventh all-time meeting on the lacrosse field between the two schools.

Lady Flames News and Notes

  • Lady Flames junior Anna Keebler is off to a historic start to the 2020 campaign with 19 goals through four games and has scored six goals in each of her last two games. The attacker currently ranks fourth in the nation in total goals and sixth in goals per game (4.75).
  • Keebler's 19 goals are the most by any Liberty player in program history through four contests. The previous high was 13 goals through four games, achieved by former Lady Flame and current assistant coach Nina Dunay in 2011. The program record for goals in a single season is 52, set by Katy Pridemore in 2015.
  • Sophomore midfielder Morgan Learn set a program single-game record with 13 draw controls versus Winthrop, Wednesday, in her first career. Learn is one of seven DI players with 13 or more draw controls in a game so far this spring.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Jennifer Soriero was honored as the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday by the conference office, her first career weekly honor. The Pompton Plains, N.J., native made 10 saves in the second half of Liberty's 16-9 home-opening win over Furman, last Wednesday.
  • After a 19-caused turnover effort against Winthrop on Wednesday, the Lady Flames are up to third in the country in caused turnovers per game (14.75). Liberty led the nation in the stat in 2018 and 2019 and finished third in 2017.
  • The Lady Flames are No. 6 in the nation in draw controls per game (17.50) and No. 17 in ground balls per game (20.75).
  • Liberty senior captain Carly White is three goals away from reaching 100 career goals. The midfielder has 97 career goals (No. 9 in program history), and also ranks in the top 10 in program history in several categories, including: assists (No. 4, 59), points (No. 6, 156), ground balls (No. 2, 158), draw controls (No. 2, 186) and caused turnovers (T-2, 83). The senior is currently 10th in the country in caused turnovers per game (2.50), this season.
  • Liberty won a program-record 14 games a season ago and reached the ASUN title game in its first year in the conference. The Spiders posted a 17-4 last season and won the Atlantic 10 Tournament title. The Lady Flames were picked to finish second in the ASUN this year, while Richmond was tabbed to win the A10.
