Darrel Jones came in eighth in the USATF indoor men's triple jump final on Saturday.

Darrel Jones, a 2018 Liberty graduate who is currently serving as the track & field team's graduate assistant, placed eighth in the men's triple jump final, Saturday at the 2020 USATF Indoor Championships at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

Jones posted his third top-10 finish in as many years at this meet, thanks to a 52-3.75 effort in round three. The native of Monroe, N.Y., finished up Liberty's strong weekend of triple jumping in New Mexico, following sophomore Makenzy Mizera's seventh-place showing in Friday's women's competition.

Mizera took part in the women's long jump on Saturday. The lone collegiate athlete in the competition, she reached 19-3.5 for 12th place. The effort was just 1.25 inches shy of her school-record and ASUN-leading mark of 19-4.75 from two weeks earlier.

These two showed a lot of poise and resilience during Day 2 of the #USAIndoorChamps2020. After 6 jumps in the TJ yesterday, @micky_2318 long jumped 5.88m (19'3.5) for a 12th place finish. @ohdjones struggled with the runway during the entire men's triple jump competition but found a way to leap 15.94m (52'3.75) on his third jump to secure an 8th place finish!
