Liberty sophomore cross country standout Calli Parlier has been named to the ASUN Conference's 2019-20 Fall Winners for Life team. Announced today by the conference office, the team honors those who display excellence on and off the playing surface.
The Winners for Life team honors a campus citizen that is respected as one who shares and/or demonstrates the ASUN Core Values: Education, Honesty, Student-Athlete Experience, Fairness, Health, Ambition, Respect, Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership, Responsibility and Sportsmanship. To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must have competed in the current academic year in an ASUN sponsored sport and be in good academic standing at his/her university.
Parlier, who hails from Apex, N.C., excelled during her sophomore cross country season for the ASUN runner-up Lady Flames. She finished as the ASUN individual runner-up to teammate Adelyn Ackley with the third fastest 5K time (17:10.72) in program history, earning first team All-ASUN honors for the second year in a row. Parlier then paced Liberty with a 26th-place finish at the NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships, becoming the fifth runner in program history to clock a sub-21:00 6K.
In the classroom, Parlier maintains a 4.0 GPA as an exercise science major. She was named to the 2018-19 ASUN Academic Honor Roll. Parlier has also been active in the community, volunteering at numerous events including the Spooktacular, Virginia 10 Miler, Flames Club Thankathon and Trick or Treat so Others Can Eat.
