Liberty's Daniella Rhodes has been selected as the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) University Division Field Hockey Rookie of the Year. Additionally, Rhodes, Ashley Dykema and Jill Bolton were all voted to the VaSID All-State University Division first team.

Rhodes, a forward, is the second player in program history to earn rookie of the year honors, joining goalkeeper Allison Schaefer. Schaefer was the state co-rookie of the year in 2016.

This marks the second straight year the Lady Flames have featured three first team all-state selections. Liberty and NCAA Field Hockey Championship semifinalist Virginia led the Commonwealth with three first team honorees each. The Lady Flames have now had 26 all-state players (15 first team, 11 second team) in the program's nine years of existence.

Rhodes, who also earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Year recognition as well as All-BIG EAST first team and Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I All-South Region first team honors, led Liberty in goals (13), assists (9), points (36), shots on goal (51) and game-winning goals (3) during her first season in Lynchburg.

The native of Durban, South Africa finished 13th in the nation in points per game (1.94), 20th in goals per game (0.72) and 22nd in assists per game (0.50). Rhodes is the first player in school history to receive first team all-conference and first team all-region recognition as a freshman.

Dykema, a defender, is now a three-time all-state honoree, having earned first team recognition in 2018 and 2019 and second team status as a newcomer in 2017. The Newport News, Va., native enjoyed an outstanding junior season during which she received Longstreth/NFHCA All-America second team honors. Her other awards include: Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-South Region first team, BIG EAST Co-Defensive Player of the Year and All-BIG EAST first team.

Serving as a team captain this past season, Dykema led a Liberty defensive unit which tallied seven shutouts and finished sixth in the country in shutouts per game (0.39) and 24th in goals-against-average (1.42). She played in 17 games for the Lady Flames and recorded one goal, four assists and six points.

Bolton, a forward, is now a three-time all-state recipient as well. The Souderton, Pa., native garnered first team recognition each of the past two years and second team honors as a freshman in 2017. A third team All-American in 2019, Bolton also earned All-South Region first team and All-BIG EAST first team distinctions.

She started all 18 games for the Lady Flames and finished second on the squad in goals (9), assists (5) and points (23). Bolton continued her climb up the Liberty field hockey record book as well. She currently ranks No. 6 in program history with 28 career goals and No. 7 with 70 career points.

First team All-American Rachel Robinson of Virginia was named VaSID Player of the Year, while Cavaliers head coach Michele Madison received VaSID Coach of the Year honors.

Liberty finished 10-8 overall and 5-2 in BIG EAST play in 2019, earning a spot in the BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship for a fourth straight season. The Lady Flames were nationally ranked every week of the season and finished 19th in the final Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll and 20th in the final NCAA Field Hockey RPI listing.
