Cure Bowl Press Conference: Coach Freeze

The Flames continued their preparation for the 2019 FBC Mortgage Cure Bowl on Saturday with a light walk through practice and a meeting with the local media on Thursday.

Liberty opened the day with team meetings and a practice session inside one of the ballroom at the Loews Royal Pacific Hotel at Universal Studios, the home base for Liberty during bowl week.

Following the workout, Flames Head Coach Hugh Freeze, quarterback Stephen Calvert, wide receiver Antonio Gandy-Golden, linebacker Solomon Ajayi and safety Benjamin Alexander took part in the Cure Bowl's annual press conference with the local Orlando media.

Freeze and the players spoke with the media about their first-ever bowl appearance and posed for photos with the 2019 Cure Bowl trophy. During the photo op, Alexander was awarded the Cure Bowl's Cure Bowl Community Service Soldier Medallions, honoring his numerous community service efforts.

Following the press conference, Liberty's players and coaches had the rest of the afternoon and early evening off where they were given a chance to enjoy the time at the Universal Studios and Island of Adventure theme parks.

The Flames will have an opportunity to see Exploria Stadium tomorrow morning, site of their matchup with Georgia Southern on Saturday. Kickoff for the Cure Bowl is set for 2:37 p.m. and the game will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.
