The Flames will open their spring season at Miami, Jan. 19.
The Liberty men's tennis team has released its spring 2020 dual match schedule.
"Our coaching staff is thrilled to announce our 2020 spring schedule. It is an honor to host the ASUN Conference Championship and to compete against the nation's best teams," said Flames head coach Derek Schwandt. "Our goal is to become the best team we can be. We are going to train and compete with intention and trust the process."
Liberty will serve as the host for the 2020 ASUN Men's Tennis Championship, April 24-26 at the Cook Tennis Center. The winner of the six-team tournament will earn an automatic bid to the 2020 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships.
The Flames' spring slate features eight nationally-ranked opponents from the final 2019 Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Rankings: No. 5 Virginia (road, March 7), No. 11 UCLA (road, March 10), No. 33 Penn State (road, Feb. 21), No. 36 Miami (road, Jan. 19), No. 51 Virginia Tech (road, Feb. 9), No. 66 Old Dominion (road, Feb. 14) and No. 73 Elon (home, Feb. 28).
Liberty's spring schedule will begin with a match at No. 36 Miami, Jan. 19. The Flames' first match home match will be on Jan. 26 against former Big South Conference foe Gardner-Webb.
The Flames, now in their second season in the ASUN Conference, will open ASUN play at home against NJIT, March 26. Liberty will then take on defending ASUN champion FGCU on March 28 at home as well. The Flames finished 12-11 overall and 6-1 in league play in their first year in the ASUN, last spring.
