The Starting 5 - Liberty's Top Storylines
• Liberty (1-2) will travel across the Commonwealth on Friday to take on ACC foe Virginia Tech (2-0). The Lady Flames will look to snap a two-game losing skid and avenge a 72-61 defeat to the Hokies from 2018-19.

• The Lady Flames are just 1-15 all-time against the Hokies, but the one victory came during their last visit to Blacksburg (Dec. 30, 2008). Liberty's 45-43 triumph that day is also their most recent win over an ACC opponent.

• Liberty's Carey Green will be coaching in the same venue where he started his tenure with the Lady Flames, 20 years ago to the day (Nov. 15, 1999). Virginia Tech defeated Liberty 60-45 in that contest.

• Junior Bridgette Rettstatt has scored in double figures in all three games to start the season. She currently paces the Lady Flames in points (11.7 ppg), rebounds (8.0 rpg) and steals (2.0 spg).

• Keyen Green, the 2018 Big South Player of the Year, is making a successful return from an ankle injury which sidelined her for the entire 2018-19 season. Through three contests, the redshirt junior center is averaging 10.0 ppg and 7.7 rpg in 16 minutes/game.

Notes and Anecdotes - Liberty vs. Virginia Tech
• Liberty is just 1-15 all-time versus Virginia Tech, but the lone victory came during the Lady Flames' most recent visit to Cassell Coliseum (Dec. 30, 2008). Future WNBA players Megan Frazee (20 points) and Avery Warley (18 rebounds) helped Liberty pull out a 45-43 triumph.

• Carey Green is 1-10 when coaching against Virginia Tech, beginning with his very first game as Liberty's head coach, 20 years ago to the day (Nov. 15, 1999). The Hokies spoiled his coaching debut with a 60-45 Preseason WNIT first round victory at Cassell Coliseum.

• The Lady Flames are 2-8 when facing Kenny Brooks, including 2-7 during his 14 years as James Madison's head coach and 0-1 during his current tenure at Virginia Tech.

• Liberty is familiar with Virginia Tech graduate transfer Lydia Rivers from her time at Radford. The Lady Flames went 4-1 versus the Highlanders when Rivers was in the lineup (during the 2015-16 and 2017-18 seasons).

• Rebounding will be a key stat to watch. During the early stages of the 2019-20 season, Liberty's rebound margin is +10.0 while Virginia Tech's margin stands at +20.5.

• Neither team will play outside of Virginia until Thanksgiving weekend, when both the Lady Flames (Miami) and Hokies (Daytona Beach) head to Florida.

Liberty vs. ACC
• Liberty is 4-29 all-time versus ACC opponents, with two of its victories coming against Virginia and one apiece versus Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

• The Lady Flames have lost 10 straight meetings with ACC foes since Dec. 30, 2008. That day, Liberty edged Virginia Tech 45-43 in the championship game of the Hokie Hardwood Classic in Blacksburg, Va.

• Liberty will be facing an ACC opponent for the seventh straight season. The Lady Flames are 0-8 vs. the ACC over the span, with four of the losses coming by eight points or fewer.
