Liberty Maintains 4th Place Position at Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational

Several teams went low on Saturday, including No. 37 Liberty, who maintains its fourth-place position following two rounds at the 2019 Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational.

Liberty enters tomorrow's final round three shots off the overall lead with a 24-under par 544 (272-272). On Saturday, the Flames carded their second-straight 12-under par 272 at the Ka'anapali Golf Course; Royal Ka'anapali Course (par 71, 6,700 yards).

The Flames' Jonathan Yaun matched his career low 18-hole round, carding a 6-under par 65 during the second round. The sophomore is currently tied for third place with an overall 10-under par 132 (67-65).

Final round action at the 2019 Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational gets under way on Sunday morning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. HST.

Round Recap - Liberty's Starting Five:
• Jonathan Yaun: T3 10-under par 132 (67-65)
• Alexandre Fuchs: T10 7-under par 135 (68-67)
• Connor Polender: T15 6-under par 136 (67-69)
• Zach Barbin: T47 1-under par 141 (70-71)
• Ervin Chang: T84 4-over par 146 (73-73)

Field Reflections:
• Twelve of the 20 teams in the field will enter the final round with an under-par team score.
• No. 18 Washington surged to the top of the leaderboard, carding a 17-under par 267 on Saturday. Washington currently holds a one-shot lead with an overall 27-under par 541 (274-267).
• Day one leader and No. 5 ranked Oklahoma is in second place with a 26-under par 542 (268-274).
• No. 23 UCLA is one shot ahead of the Flames with a 25-under par 543 (269-274).
• Georgia's Trent Phillips carded the low round of the tournament on Saturday (7-under par 67) to move atop the 119-man leaderboard with a 13-under par 129 (65-64).

Birdies and Bogeys - Liberty Team Notes:
• The Flames currently lead the 20-team field in par-5 scoring (25-under par/4.17 scoring average).
• Liberty is also one of four teams who have carded three eagles during the tournament.
• Yaun, who claimed medalist honors at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate during his last outing, posted his fourth-consecutive sub-70 round (65-67-67-65) on Saturday.
• Yaun opened round two with an eagle on the par-5, No. 1 hole (519), followed by five birdies before bogeying the par-4, No. 18 hole (440 yards).
• Alexandre Fuchs is tied for 10th place with a 7-under par 135 (68-67) after carding back-to-back rounds in the 60s for the first time this season.
• Following a career-low round on Friday, Connor Polender backed it up with a 2-under par 69 and is tied for 15th with an overall 6-under par 136 (67-69).
• Zach Barbin carded an even par round of 71 and is the fourth Flames with an under par score. He is tied for 47th place with an overall 1-under par 141 (70-71).
