Nicaise Muamba and Deji Thomas-Smith of the Liberty men's tennis squad continued their run through the doubles main draw on day four of the ITA Atlantic Regional with a pair of victories on Sunday to reach tomorrow's final.

Additionally, Muamba won his singles quarterfinal round match today and will play in the semifinals tomorrow and potentially the singles final.

Muamba and Thomas-Smith are 5-0 in doubles at the regional and will meet top seed and nationally-ranked No. 47 Francois Musitelli and Jannik Giesse of Old Dominion in Monday's championship match following their quarterfinal and semifinal triumphs on Sunday.

Due to inclement weather, all of today's matches were contested indoors at Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville.

"Nic and Deji had to reset several times today. They stayed persistent and optimistic and fought," said Flames head coach Derek Schwandt. "Nic showed a lot of maturity and composure in his singles match as well."

Muamba and Thomas-Smith bested No. 10 seed Timo Zgraggen and Lleyton Cronje of VCU by an 8-4 score in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, the Flames duo improved to 5-0 on the weekend by besting No. 12 seed Andrew Ton and Derrick Thompson of Navy in comeback fashion, 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-5). The doubles semifinals and final are best two-of-three sets.

Muamba, the top seed in the singles draw and No. 65-ranked player in the nation, topped host Virginia's William Woodall in straight sets (6-4, 6-4) in the quarterfinals to improve to 4-0 in singles at the event. He will take on Virginia's Ryan Goetz, the No. 4 seed, in tomorrow's semifinals at the Snyder Courts at 10 a.m.

The other semifinal pits No. 2 seed and 111th-ranked Gianni Ross of Virginia against ODU's Luca Maldoner. The singles final will be played at 1:45 p.m. at Snyder Courts.

Through four days of competition, Liberty has won 14 singles matches and seven doubles matches. The fifth and final day of the ITA Atlantic Regional will feature singles semifinals and finals and the doubles final.

The singles main draw finalists will both receive a berth into the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in Newport Beach, Calif., Nov. 6-10. The doubles main draw champion will receive a berth into the ITA National Fall Championships.
