Liberty women's soccer swept the ASUN honors this week as Kasey Jamieson was named the ASUN Player of the Week while Cora Duininck earned ASUN Defensive Player of the Week honors. The awards come after Liberty went 2-0 this past week by defeating the defending ASUN Champion, Lipscomb, while also taking care of business against North Alabama to close out the week.
Duininck and the backline were exceptional all week, posting two shutouts. The week started with an impressive defensive performance against Lipscomb, as Liberty's backline held reigning ASUN Player of the Year, Olivia Doak, to just one shot on goal throughout the game. Against North Alabama, Duininck was able to hold the ASUN leading goal scorer, Shelby Wall, to one shot on goal. The junior from Tulsa, Okla. also scored her second goal of the season off a header against UNA to give Liberty the 3-0 victory. Duininck has led a backline that has not allowed a goal in the last 495 minutes of regulation.
Jamieson continues a stellar sophomore season as she is second on the team with 13 points, scoring five goals along with three assists. Against Lipscomb and North Alabama, Jamieson tallied three points with a goal and an assist. The native of Lansing, Mich. sealed the win for the Lady Flames against Lipscomb with a goal late in the game to pull out the 2-0 victory. To close out the week, Jamieson provided the game-winning assist as Kailey Neef scored, leading to Liberty's 3-0 win over North Alabama.
The Lady Flames will be back in action on Thursday, Oct. 10 when they travel to Florida to face Stetson.
