Liberty's Alexandre Fuchs regained his first-round form, allowing the junior to finish the 2019 Marquette Intercollegiate in fourth place on Tuesday.
Fuchs completed the event with a top-five score of 5-under par 211 (68-75-68), carding his first under-par tournament total of the 2019-20 season.
As a team, Liberty finished the event in seventh place out of 12 teams. The Flames lowered their score each day of the three-day tournament, finishing with a 12-over par 876 (297-294-285) at the Erin Hills Golf Course (par 72, 7,551 yards), site of the 117th U.S. Open in 2017.
The Flames will return to the golf course for the fourth of five events during their fall schedule in two weeks when Liberty participates in the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate. The two-day, 54-hole event is hosted by Baylor on Oct. 21-22 at the Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, Texas.

• All but three teams in the 12-team field managed to break par during final round play on Tuesday. • The team's familiarity with the former national championship course helped lower team scores each day (Round 1 stroke average: 76.34; Round 2 stroke average: 73.29; Round 3 stroke average: 72.69). • Purdue claimed the team title with a winning score of 9-under par 855 (301-278-276). • Northwestern pushed Purdue by posting the best final round score (13-under par 275) to finish two shots behind the Boilermakers in second place with a 7-under par 857 (294-288-275). • The final team to finish with an overall under-par score was UCLA, who finished in third place with a 5-under par 859 (292-288-279). • Marquette's Hunter Eichhorn (70-67-72-209) and South Florida's Luke Gifford (72-68-69) shared medalist honors with a winning score of 7-under par 209.
Birdies and Bogeys – Liberty Team Notes:
• Liberty's Alexandre Fuchs bookended rounds of 4-under par 68 during the three-day tournament to post his fifth career top-5 finish. • Fuchs led the 72-man field in par-4 scoring, finishing the Marquette hosted tournament with a 3.87 scoring average on par-4 holes. • The Flames led the 12-team field with a total of 178 pars during the tournament. • Zach Barbin and Connor Polender finished the tournament tied for second place with 39 pars each. • Polender, who was playing this event as an individual, posted his second career top-25 finish and carded 3-over par 219 (75-71-73). • Jonathan Yaun tied his low round of the season on Tuesday and posted his 16th career round at par or better during the final round (2-under par 70). • Yaun had the second-best finish of Liberty's starting five with a share of 30th place at 5-over par 221 (77-74-70).
