Liberty Men's Soccer Earns United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award

Liberty Men's Soccer Earns United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award
The Liberty Flames men's soccer team has earned a Team Academic Award from the United Soccer Coaches. The award recognizes teams at the high school and college levels exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2018-19 academic year.
 
The Flames, who posted a 3.24 GPA, are one of 345 men's collegiate teams to garner the award. College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2018-19 academic year.
 
The Liberty women's soccer team also garnered a team academic award. Liberty was one of 255 schools to have both their men's and women's programs among the recipients.Current Liberty senior midfielder Ruben Garcia has posted a 4.0 GPA during his collegiate career. The Madrid, Spain native was selected to the 2018 ASUN Men's Soccer All-Academic team and the 2018-19 VaSID All-State Academic team. Junior goalkeeper Brogan Engbers has also posted a 4.0 GPA during his time at Liberty.
 
The Flames host the Stetson Hatters at Osborne Stadium, tomorrow afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
