No. 13 Liberty dropped its first game of the season by a 1-0 score to No. 18 Wake Forest on Sunday at Kentner Stadium.

Demon Deacons midfielder Laia Vancells scored on a penalty corner in the second quarter to give Wake Forest the only goal it needed. Liberty managed a season-low nine shots but also gave up only two shots to Wake Forest in the game, also a season low.

The Lady Flames are now 5-1 and see their five-game winning streak to start the season snapped. Wake Forest improves to 2-5 and ends a three-game losing skid with the victory.
