Liberty Bounces Back, Sweeps Idaho State

Liberty held off late rallies from Idaho State on Saturday evening, sweeping the Bengals (25-22, 25-21, 25-23) at Washington State's Bohler Gym.

The Lady Flames (5-3) bounced back from a 3-0 sweep at the hands of UT Arlington from earlier today, while the Bengals (3-6) dropped their fifth match in a row.

Notable Numbers
• Liberty outhit Idaho State .234-.162 while also leading in blocks (10.5-5) and digs (57-52). Both teams served up four aces.

• Liberty's Amelia Johnson scored a match-high 13 kills and added 13 digs for her third double-double of the season, while Rajini Fitzmaurice totaled a career-high nine kills to go with nine digs. Hannah Morris dished out a match-high 34 assists, while Macy Phillips collected a match-high 18 digs and served up two aces. Kailey Macy led all players with five blocks.

• Duquesne Moratzka paced ISU with 11 kills, while Mahala Bradburn collected 16 digs.

"I was happy with the production from our OHs tonight. A lot of that credit goes to our setters keeping them in rhythm. Macy's serve was on tonight which kept them out of system. This was a good team win. We are excited about tomorrow's match vs. a good PAC-12 opponent in Washington State."

Match Summary
SET 1

• Liberty led set one by as many as 11 points, taking a 16-5 lead after Casey Goodwin's solo block. However, ISU chipped away, and fought all the way back to 24-22 on a Moratzka kill. A Bengals error ended the set in Liberty's favor, 25-22.

• Fitzmaurice led all players with five kills during the opening set.

SET 2
• The Lady Flames outhit the Bengals .385-.067 in set two. Liberty led 21-12 following a Macy kill. ISU then staged a 9-3 run to narrow the gap to 24-21, but Fitzmaurice's kill clinched a 25-21 decision for Liberty.

SET 3
• ISU won the race to 20 in the final set and led 21-19 after a kill from Moratzka. Liberty reeled off five straight points, gaining match-point tries at 24-21. The Lady Flames converted their third match-point chance to seal the 25-23 win and 3-0 sweep.

Quick Hits
• Tonight was Liberty's first win in the Pacific Time Zone since sweeping Penn on Sept. 18, 2010 in Fullerton, Calif.

• Anna Gragg has passed Erin McKeown (2000-03) for sixth place in program history with 345 career blocks.

• Johnson has led the Lady Flames in kills in each of Liberty's last six matches, during which the Lady Flames have gone 5-1.

• Liberty is 5-2 this season in sets decided by just two points. In each of Liberty's last two match victories (at Virginia, vs. Idaho State), the Lady Flames won the clinching set by two points.
