The Liberty Flames have been voted to finish fourth in the 2019 ASUN Conference men's soccer standings in Head Coach Kelly Findley's first season.
The league's head coaches voted two-time defending champion Lipscomb, 10-10-1 overall and 5-1 in the ASUN, to once again claim the top spot in the regular season standings. The Bisons garnered 47 points and six out of seven first place votes.
Florida Gulf Coast was selected to finish second, collecting 42 votes, while Jacksonville was chosen third with 28 points and one first place vote. Liberty followed in fourth with 26 points. Stetson (22), North Florida (17) and NJIT (14) rounded out the poll.3 12 newcomers join Findley in their first season at Liberty in 2019. The Flames finished 7-7-1 overall and 2-3-1 in their first season in the ASUN in 2018.
Liberty will travel to Jacksonville, Fla., to face North Florida in its first ASUN contest of the season on Sept. 21. The Flames will host Stetson in their first ASUN match of 2019 at Osborne Stadium on Oct. 1.
Liberty opens its 2019 campaign on Aug. 29 at Radford. Two days later, the Flames will welcome Incarnate Word to Osborne Stadium for the first home game of the year. Match time is schedule for 6 p.m
The top six teams in the ASUN standings will advance to the 2019 ASUN Men's Soccer Championship. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be held at the home sites of the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, Nov. 8 and 10. The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds will receive a bye and play the quarterfinal winners in the semifinals. The finals will be played on the home field of the highest remaining seed on Nov. 16. The conference champion receives an automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament.
