Mizera Sets Liberty Freshman Record in Triple Jump

Liberty's Makenzy Mizera broke the program freshman record with a 41-2.25 triple jump on her way to a seventh-place finish at the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships, Saturday afternoon at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Fla.

Aided by a favorable (+3.1 m/s) tailwind, Mizera took down the record on her sixth and final attempt of the competition. Oasis Hernandez had held the Liberty freshman standard of 41-0.5 since May 8, 2014.

Mizera's series also included a first-round leap of 40-0.5 and a wind-legal third-round effort of 40-9.5 which secured the Missouri native's spot in the finals. Mizera's 41-2.25 mark improved upon her previous best of 40-9.75, achieved on May 11 during her second-place finish at the ASUN Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Mizera now ranks No. 3 on Liberty's all-time women's triple jump list, trailing only Mia Aghaji (42-1.25 in 2012) and Janae Jones (41-9.75 in 2017).
