Weather Report As expected for June in south Florida, this weekend's weather forecast calls for high temperatures in the low 90s and a chance of thunderstorms each day.
How She Got Here Mizera has enjoyed a stellar freshman season, including three All-ASUN honors and three ASUN weekly awards.
The native of Maryville, Mo., was the ASUN indoor and outdoor triple jump runner-up and also placed third in the indoor long jump competition. Mizera earned back-to-back ASUN Women's Freshman of the Week awards on April 17 and 24 before garnering ASUN Women's Field Athlete of the Week laurels on May 8.
Mizera's 19-1.5 long jump at the ASUN indoor meet broke the school record of 19-1.25 which Gina Gibson had owned since 1985. Her personal-best 19-9.5 long jump at the May 1 Liberty Twilight Qualifier trails only Gibson (20-0.25 from 1984) on Liberty's outdoor record list.
Mizera reached a personal-best 40-9.75 during the ASUN triple jump final on May 11, ranking fourth in program history for the event. She is just shy of the Liberty freshman record of 41-0.5, set by Oasis Hernandez in 2014. Mizera already owns the Liberty indoor and outdoor freshman records for the women's long jump.
Noting the Field Mizera is one of two women's athletes who are entered in both the women's long jump and triple jump in Miramar, joining TCU signee Tosin Alao.
In Sunday's long jump competition, Mizera will renew a rivalry with Nebraska freshman Zionn Pearson. Mizera defeated Pearson by one-half inch to win the 2017 Missouri Class 4A long jump state title. One year later, Pearson returned the favor with a one-inch victory over Mizera in the 2018 Missouri Class 4A long jump final.
Global Flames Mizera will not be the only Flame in action this weekend, as sophomore Kyle Mitchell is set to compete in the men's shot put at the Jamaican National Senior Championships. His event is slated for Sunday at 7 p.m. Eastern at the National Stadium in Kingston.
Sophomore Naomi Mojica took part in the Mexican National Championships earlier this month, placing second in the women's shot put (49-0.25) and seventh in the women's hammer (168-10).
