LFSN reporter Alan York caught up with Flames men's tennis sophomore Nicaise Muamba prior to his departure for the 2019 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championship.
Muamba became the second Liberty player in the last four years to qualify for the NCAA Championship. The NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Subcommittee selected the 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams that will compete in the 2019 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships, and Muamba was an automatic qualifier from the ASUN Conference for the singles championship.
Muamba, the ASUN Men's Tennis Player of the Year, is currently ranked No. 119 in the country in the latest Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Rankings. He will find out his first round opponent in the championship on Sunday morning and will play his first match on Monday.
The singles and doubles competition will be held May 20-25 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, following the conclusion of the team championship, which wraps up this Sunday.
