Liberty Athletics celebrated another successful season during its eighth annual FLAMESPY Award show where Frankie Hickson was named the Breakthrough Athlete of the Year award winner.
Hickson led the Flames' ground game in 2018, finishing the season with 1,032 rushing yards on 229 carries (4.5 yards per carry) and 11 touchdowns. Hickson's career high yardage total allowed the junior to become the 15th player in program history to rush for 1,000 yards in a season and the first since 2014.
Following the season, Hickson was one of six Liberty players named to the Phil Steele Publications Postseason All-Independent Team, while he was the Flames' lone representative on the VaSID all-state first team listing.
