Liberty's Kieran Vincent
No. 20 Liberty is currently tied for second place midway through the second round of a now weather-shortened 2019 Stitch Intercollegiate, hosted by NC State.
The 14-team field battled poor playing conditions throughout the day on Friday during their round and a half at the MacGregor Downs Country Club (par 72, 6,973 yards).
The teams played nearly the entire first round in moderate to steady rain during the morning flight, while the afternoon round was halted due to lightning at 4:55 p.m. With the threat of more inclement weather the rest of Friday evening, tournament officials called off play.
Play is scheduled to resume at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning and the event will be shortened from 54 to 36 holes. When the 14-team field returns to the course in the morning, most players will have seven or eight holes left to play to complete the tournament.
If the forecasted overnight rains leave an already rain-soaked MacGregor Downs Country Club in an unplayable condition, the 18-hole tournament results will stand as the event's final scores.
