Muamba is nationally ranked for a fifth time this spring.
Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Rankings: April 9 Liberty's All-Time National Team & Individual Rankings
Liberty men's tennis sophomore Nicaise Muamba is currently listed as the No. 121-ranked singles player in the country by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
Muamba has now been listed among the top-125 singles players in the nation in the Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Tennis Rankings five times this spring (Feb. 6, Feb. 20, March 5, March 19 and April 9). He reached as high as No. 99 in the country, Feb. 20.
Muamba is the only nationally-ranked ASUN Conference player. Muamba is currently in position to receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Tennis Championship since he is the only ranked player in the ASUN. Sam Matheson became the first Liberty Flame in program history to qualify for the NCAA singles championship in 2016.
The Laval, Quebec, Canada, native is the only four-time ASUN Men's Tennis Player of the Week so far this spring, receiving the distinction on Jan. 24, Feb. 20, Feb. 27 and March 20.
Muamba leads all Liberty players with 24 singles triumphs this season and is 14-5 in spring singles competition, including a 13-5 mark at No. 1 singles. The sophomore is currently on a four-match winning streak and sports a 4-1 record in ASUN singles bouts.
Muamba and ASUN co-leader Liberty (11-9, 5-0 ASUN) return to action on Thursday at Florida Gulf Coast (10-8, 5-0 ASUN). First place will be on the line, as both teams are a perfect 5-0 in ASUN action. First serve between the Flames and Eagles is slated for 5 p.m. at the FGCU Tennis Complex in Fort Myers, Fla.
