Liberty won its second ASUN match in as many days, defeating the North Alabama Lions 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at the UNA Varsity Tennis Courts.

The Lady Flames are now 9-6 on the season and 2-1 in ASUN Conference matches. The Lady Flames have now won their last two ASUN matches by a combined 11-0 score. Liberty defeated Kennesaw State 7-0, yesterday.

North Alabama drops to 5-10 on the year and 0-2 in the ASUN and has lost three straight. Liberty and North Alabama were forced to play first a clinch scenario (first team to four points) due to rain moving into the Florence area.

How It Happened

  • Liberty took the doubles point for a seventh straight match, winning on courts one and three. On court one, seniors Lara Soares and Maria Medina topped Nina Linke and Megan Humphreys. The No. 3 doubles match also went to a pair of Lady Flames seniors. Anna Dollar and Ashley Bongart upended Nele Setiz and Sydney Flesch 6-3.
  • With Liberty up 1-0, ASUN Player of the Week Kalani Soli prevailed 6-3, 6-1 over Linke on court two for her seventh straight victory
  • The Lady Flames' Anna Dollar made it 3-0 Liberty with a straight-sets victory (6-0, 6-3) against Humphreys.
  • Liberty freshman Alexandra Almborg clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Seitz.
  • Sunday's match between the Lady Flames and Lions was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.  


Next Up

  • The Lady Flames will play their first home match since Feb. 2 when they host the Lipscomb Bisons (12-3, 1-0 ASUN), Saturday. First serve is set for 11 a.m. at the Cook Tennis Center.
  • Liberty and Lipscomb will be meeting for the second time and first time since 2013. The Lady Flames won that match 4-3 in Nashville, Tenn.
