Muamba is now a three-time ASUN Player of the Week.

Liberty sophomore Nicaise Muamba has been selected as the ASUN Men's Tennis Player of the Week for a third time this season, announced by the conference on Wednesday.

Muamba has now received the honor in back-to-back weeks and three times on the season, the most of any player in the ASUN.

"Nicaise continues to train and compete at a high level consistently," said Flames head coach Derek Schwandt. "We are excited about how great of a teammate he is, and his leadership skills are impacting the team in a big way."

A native of Laval, Quebec, Canada, Muamba won a doubles and singles match, last week. Last Friday at Virginia Tech, the sophomore teamed up with junior Chase Burton to win at No. 1 doubles to defeat Virginia Tech's nationally-ranked duo, No. 25 Henrik Korsgaard and Alex Ribiero, by a 6-3 score. It was Burton and Muamba's second straight ranked doubles victory.

Muamba was also victorious at No. 2 singles against the Hokies, besting Ribiero in straight sets (6-3, 6-2). He is currently the No. 99-ranked singles player in the country.

In doubles, Muamba and Burton are 6-4 in the No. 1 slot, this spring. Muamba leads all Flames' players with 16 singles victories in 2018-19 and is also 6-4 in singles (5-4 No. 1, 1-0 No. 2) in the spring.

The Flames have now taken over half (4-of-7) of the ASUN weekly honors this season. In addition to Muamba's three accolades, Liberty freshman Josh Wilson also earned player of the week recognition on Jan. 30.

Muamba and the Flames (4-7) will play a pair of road matches in Richmond, Va., this weekend. Liberty will first take on the Richmond Spiders (8-2) on Friday at 1 p.m. The Flames will then play a road match against the VCU Rams (6-4), Saturday at 1 p.m.
