The Liberty softball team opened its 2019 season with a resounding 13-3 victory over BYU, Friday at Nancy Almaraz Stadium in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. With the win, No. 22 Liberty opens the 2019 Puerto Vallarta College Challenge at 1-0. Notable Numbers - Liberty outhit BYU, 17-4, for the game, and both teams recorded three errors. - Jaclyn Amader went 4-for-4 with two RBI for the Lady Flames, while Autumn Bishop and Amber Bishop both batted 3-for-5. Amber Bishop homered once and scored three runs. - Sarah Robertson and Kara Canetto recorded two hits each, with Robertson homering and Canetto hitting two doubles. - DiMartino picked up the win, allowing two runs on three hits in six innings, while striking out two and walking two. - BYU's Ashley Godfrey went 2-for-2 with a homer and three RBI off the bench.

- Amader is the first Lady Flame since Deidra See (March 24, 2018 at Presbyterian) with four hits ina game. - This is the third straight year that Liberty has had a freshman record two hits during the season opener. In 2017, Amber Bishop went 2-for-3 in her first career game, while Madison Via did so in 2018.
