The Liberty softball team opened its 2019 season with a resounding 13-3 victory over BYU, Friday at Nancy Almaraz Stadium in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. With the win, No. 22 Liberty opens the 2019 Puerto Vallarta College Challenge at 1-0.

Notable Numbers
- Liberty outhit BYU, 17-4, for the game, and both teams recorded three errors.
- Jaclyn Amader went 4-for-4 with two RBI for the Lady Flames, while Autumn Bishop and Amber Bishop both batted 3-for-5. Amber Bishop homered once and scored three runs.
- Sarah Robertson and Kara Canetto recorded two hits each, with Robertson homering and Canetto hitting two doubles.
- DiMartino picked up the win, allowing two runs on three hits in six innings, while striking out two and walking two.
- BYU's Ashley Godfrey went 2-for-2 with a homer and three RBI off the bench.

Turning Point
- The Lady Flames scored early and often, racing out to a 7-0 lead through four innings after scoring three times in both the first and third innings and adding a fourth-inning tally.

- Liberty's 13 runs were its most since a 13-5 win over Delaware, March 9, 2018, while the team's 17 hits were its most since registering 19 hits at Charleston Southern, April 7, 2013.

- Liberty set a new program record for runs scored in a season opener, as the previous record was 10, set in 1998 against Hampton.

- Emily Sweat, making her first appearance since April 15, 2017, doubled while starting at designated player.

- Amber Bishop is now tied with Kelby Allen (2012-15) for seventh place in program history with 27 career homers.

- Sarah Robertson moved into a tie for ninth place with Allen with 110 career runs scored.

- Amader is the first Lady Flame since Deidra See (March 24, 2018 at Presbyterian) with four hits ina  game.

- This is the third straight year that Liberty has had a freshman record two hits during the season opener. In 2017, Amber Bishop went 2-for-3 in her first career game, while Madison Via did so in 2018.
