Athletics to Host Battle of the Badges Event on Jan. 12

Flames Ticket Office

Flames Nation will be able to watch more than an ASUN Conference men's and women's basketball doubleheader in the Vines Center on Saturday, Jan. 12.

Liberty Athletics will host its inaugural "Battle of the Badges" event when Liberty's men's and women's basketball teams host Jacksonville in a conference doubleheader. The men's game gets underway at 2 p.m., followed by the women's contest at 4:30 p.m.

During halftime of the men's basketball game, members of the City of Lynchburg Police Department will have a tug of war battle with the Lynchburg Firefighters. The contest will be officiated by Richard Hinkley, Liberty University's Chief of Police.

In addition to the "Battle of the Badges" event, both the City of Lynchburg Police and Fire Departments will have vehicles outside the Vines Center, allowing children access inside an actual police car and a fire truck. The vehicles will be open to the public from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to tipoff of the men's basketball game.

Finally, the President's Suite will be open during both games where children can visit with members of the City of Lynchburg Police and Fire Departments.

Single game tickets are available for as low as $10 per person and a single ticket provides entrance into both basketball games.
