Ghajar (front) and Almborg (back) won two doubles matches on Friday.
Two Liberty doubles teams combined for three victories on day one of the Furman Duals at the Mickel Tennis Center.
The Lady Flames' Alexandra Almborg and Nasha Ghajar captured two of those three wins for Liberty. They upended Sydney Homan and Arianna Ceccaroni of the Wingate Bulldogs 6-3 in the morning doubles session.
The duo then won a 6-2 decision over Wingate's Riann Hsu and Marissa Marks in the early afternoon. In their next match, Almborg and Ghajar fell to Beth Taylor and Ella Rowley of Presbyterian 6-4. Almborg, a freshman, and Ghajar, a sophomore, are 4-2 as a doubles team in the fall.
Liberty senior Anna Dollar and sophomore Grace Hashiguchi collected one victory on Friday. They lost their first match to Presbyterian's Tracy Johnson and Samantha Calais in a tiebreaker (7-6) before rebounding to win 6-1 versus Noelia Acuna and Ana Boza of USC Upstate. Wingate's Michaela Verpelli and Alisa Rudenko edged Dollar and Hashiguchi 6-3 later in the afternoon.
Day two of the Furman Duals resumes at 8:30 a.m. with doubles, followed by singles at 9:30 a.m.
