Liberty senior Lara Soares picked up one victory to reach the round of 16 singles, Sunday on day three of the ITA Atlantic Regional.

Rain forced most of Sunday's action to be played indoors at Crosswhite Athletic Club. Both the round of 32 and round of 16 singles matches were contested at Crosswhite, while singles backdraw matches were held at the Cook Tennis Center in the late afternoon.

Soares, the No. 13 seed at the tournament, earned her seventh victory of the fall with a two-set decision (7-6 (5), 6-2) over Maryland's Zoe Kulkarni in the round of 32. In the round of 16, No. 4 seed Holly Hutchinson of Old Dominion topped Soares 6-0, 7-5, ending the Liberty senior's run in the main draw.

The Lady Flames' second victory on the third day of competition came from Ashley Bongart. The senior, Bongart and her opponent, Lauren Goodman of William & Mary, played one eight-game pro set, with Bongart prevailing 8-4.

In total, the Lady Flames have won 12 matches (seven singles, five doubles) over the first three days of the regional. Here is the breakdown:
Friday: two singles, two doubles
Saturday: three singles, three doubles
Sunday: two singles, zero doubles

Liberty's only remaining doubles team in the main draw, junior Kalani Soli and senior Rebekah Anderson, lost their match on Sunday morning. The 10th-seeded duo fell by an 8-4 score to Virginia's second-seeded Meghan Kelley and Sophie Munera. Soli and Anderson posted a 2-1 record in two days of doubles play.

The Lady Flames' Maria Medina was handed her first singles loss of the fall campaign in the round of 32 of the main draw. The No. 12 seed, Chloe Gullickson of Virginia, took down Medina in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, snapping Medina's eight-match winning streak to open the season.
