Spring 2019 Men's Tennis Schedule Announced

The spring 2019 Liberty men's tennis schedule was announced on Sunday.  

"We are thrilled about the competition on schedule for spring 2019. It is an honor to represent Liberty and compete against the nation's best teams," said Liberty Men's Tennis Head Coach Derek Schwandt. "We are training hard to prepare for the challenge."

The Flames' spring schedule features eight nationally-ranked opponents from the final 2018 Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Rankings: No. 40 Virginia Tech, No. 42 Miami, No. 51 Washington, No. 53 Princeton, No. 58 Arizona, No. 60 Penn, No. 69 VCU and No. 73 William & Mary.

Liberty's spring slate will kick off at No. 42 Miami on Jan. 18. The Flames' home-opening weekend will feature matches against George Washington (Feb. 15) and No. 73 William & Mary (Feb. 16).

Liberty will play its inaugural ASUN match against the Kennesaw State Owls on March 23 on the road. The Flames' ASUN home opener will be against the Lipscomb Bisons, March 30 at the Cook Tennis Center.

The Flames' other home non-conference bout will be against North Carolina A&T (Feb. 23). Liberty will also be competing away from Lynchburg in non-conference action versus: No. 60 Penn (Jan. 25), No. 53 Princeton (Jan. 27), Santa Clara (at Washington, Feb. 2), Elon (Feb. 26), Richmond (March 1) and No. 69 VCU (March 2).

Liberty's spring break will be spent in Arizona, highlighted by matches against Grand Canyon (March 12) and No. 58 Arizona (March 14).

The Flames' 2019 ASUN Conference schedule was released on July 9. Other home ASUN contests for Liberty are against Stetson (April 4) and 2018 ASUN champion North Florida (April 6). The Flames will play ASUN road matches at North Alabama (March 25), Florida Gulf Coast (April 11) and NJIT (April 13).

The 2019 ASUN Men's Tennis Championship will be played at Stetson in DeLand, Fla., from April 18-20. The winner of the tournament will earn the conference's automatic qualifying bid to the 2019 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships.
