The Liberty field hockey squad will play a pair of games this weekend, including one home BIG EAST contest and one neutral-site non-conference bout.

On Friday, No. 19 Liberty (9-4, 4-0 BIG EAST) will look to run its record to 5-0 in the BIG EAST when it takes on the Georgetown Hoyas (9-4, 2-2 BIG EAST) at the Liberty Field Hockey Field. Match time is slated for 4 p.m.

Sunday's contest will pit the Lady Flames against the ninth-ranked Syracuse Orange (8-4, 1-3 ACC). The contest is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Duke's Jack Katz Stadium in Durham, N.C.

Liberty, ranked 19th in the country for a second straight week, will take a perfect 4-0 mark in the conference into Friday's contest with Georgetown, looking to go 5-0 in the league for the first time in school history. The Lady Flames' matchup with Syracuse will be their fourth against a top-10 opponent in 2018.

Georgetown, which finished 0-7 in the BIG EAST in 2017, is much improved from last season. The Hoyas picked up a 2-1 overtime victory at home over No. 16 Old Dominion on Sept. 28.

Syracuse moved up four spots in the national poll from No. 13 to No. 9 following a pair of victories, last week. The Orange defeated No. 8 Boston College 2-1 in overtime at home on Friday and then bested California 4-2 on Sunday on the Syracuse home turf.

Series History
Liberty is a perfect 5-0 all-time against Georgetown, including a 2-0 mark in BIG EAST games. The Lady Flames won last year's matchup (Oct. 6, 2017) by a 3-0 score on the Hoyas' home turf in Washington, D.C. In that game, Victoria O'Keeffe, Agueda Moroni and Mallory Fortenbaugh each tallied goals.

The Lady Flames and Syracuse have met one time previously, which came on Sept. 3, 2016 at Hofstra. The Orange, who were the defending national champions and the second-ranked team in the country at the time, were pushed to the limit by Liberty. The Lady Flames led the Orange by a 2-1 count with less than three minutes remaining before Syracuse tied the game and eventually won by a 3-2 score in overtime.
