BIG EAST Release

Liberty field hockey's Agueda Moroni has been named the BIG EAST Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week for a third time this year. The league office recognized Moroni in its weekly award on Monday afternoon

This is the sixth time in Moroni's career that she has been named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week. On Sunday, Moroni set a new program record for goals in a single season with her 20th goal of the season in a home match versus No. 21 Wake Forest.

In three games last week, Moroni tallied six goals, three assists and 15 points. Last Tuesday against Temple, Moroni scored two goals and added a pair of assists in an 8-2 Lady Flames victory. Against BIG EAST foe Quinnipiac on Friday, the Argentina native notched her fourth hat trick of the season and recorded an assist for seven points in Liberty's 8-1 conference win over the Bobcats.

Yesterday against No. 20 Wake Forest, Moroni scored the record-breaking goal at the 2:24 mark of the contest. The senior broke the previous program record of 19 goals in a season shared by herself (2017 season) and former Liberty players Natalie Barr (2013 season) and Sarah Gipe (2014 season). Despite only playing 11 games so far this season, she now shares the program record for most points in a season (49) with Natalie Barr, who accomplished the feat in 2013.

Moroni leads the BIG EAST in goals (20), goals per game (1.82), points (49) and points per game (4.45).

Moroni and the 20th-ranked Lady Flames (8-3, 3-0 BIG EAST) are back in action at No. 16 Old Dominion (7-3, 1-2 BIG EAST) on Friday at 5 p.m.
