The Lady Flames are the 16th-ranked team in the nation.
The Lady Flames field hockey team has moved up seven spots in the national rankings to No. 16 in the country. The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) released its Penn Monto/NFHCA DI National Coaches Poll on Tuesday morning.
Liberty holds a 3-1 record so far in 2018, picking up road victories at No. 17 James Madison (6-1 final), Kent State (2-1 final) and Ohio (7-0 final). The Lady Flames' lone setback came at No. 3 Duke, 4-3 in overtime.
At No. 16, Liberty has received its highest ranking since checking in at No. 13 in the NFHCA preseason national poll on Aug. 23, 2016.
Liberty is one of three ranked BIG EAST squads, along with No. 1 UConn (4-0) and No. 21 Old Dominion (4-0). The Lady Flames are first in the conference in scoring average (4.47) and scoring margin (2.98).
Liberty will be back in action next Tuesday at home against the Longwood Lancers. Match time is pegged for 5 p.m. at the Liberty Field Hockey Field.
