BIG EAST Release

Senior Agueda Moroni of the Lady Flames field hockey team has been named the BIG EAST Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week for a second straight week. The conference office recognized Moroni in its weekly awards on Monday afternoon.

This is the fourth time in Moroni's career that she has been named the conference's office player of the week. The native of Cordoba, Argentina scored five goals on just six shots on goal (11 shots total) in two road matches last week. Moroni scored both Liberty goals in a 2-1 victory at Kent State, last Friday. She scored the opening goal of the game in the 15th minute and the game-winning marker in the 56th minute on a penalty corner.

At Ohio on Sunday, Moroni recorded her fourth career three-goal game (and second of the season) in a 7-0 Lady Flames triumph. She scored all three goals in the first 21:35 of action.

Moroni leads the BIG EAST Conference in goals (9), assists (3, tied for first), points (21) and shots (24) for a Liberty squad that is No. 1 in the league in scoring average (4.47) and scoring margin (2.98).

Moroni and the 23rd-ranked Lady Flames (3-1) will have just over a week to prepare for their home opener on Sept. 11 versus the Longwood Lancers (1-1). Game time is slated for 5 p.m. at the Liberty Field Hockey Field. Liberty's next three contests will all be at home (Longwood on Sept. 11, Temple on Sept. 14 and Virginia on Sept. 16).
