Liberty women's tennis has unveiled its 2018-19 schedule.
The Liberty Lady Flames women's tennis team has released its 2018-19 schedule, featuring seven different fall events and a strong spring schedule.
"We are very excited about both segments of our schedule. The fall season will give us the opportunity to be exposed to playing new opponents, trying to protect our house on two occasions and placing an emphasis on daily growth in practice and matches," said Liberty Women's Tennis Head Coach Jeff Maren.
The Lady Flames will host two tournaments in the fall on campus at the Cook Tennis Center, highlighted by the ITA Division I Women's Tennis Atlantic Regional, Oct. 12-16. They will also play the Liberty Invite on their home courts (Sept. 22-23).
For the fourth time in the last five years, Liberty's fall season will begin at the Elon Fall Invitational, Sept. 14-16. Additional fall tournaments the Lady Flames will compete at include: 25K Charleston ITF (Sept. 30-Oct. 2), the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic (Nov. 2-4), the Furman Duals (Nov. 2-4) and the UNLV Rebel Invite (Nov. 9-11).
Liberty's spring 2018 schedule opens on Jan. 19 at No. 27 Wake Forest and also features No. 67 VCU (away, Feb. 16), No. 45 William & Mary (home, April 8) and Arizona (Feb. 22), along with in-state opponents James Madison (March 1) and Longwood (March 2). The Lady Flames' home opener will be on Feb. 2 versus Navy.
"The spring nonconference schedule will force us to compete at a high level for months at a time, as we face team that will us to our limits," Maren said. "Our new ASUN conference opponents will bring a new, exciting challenge in the second half of the season. We can't wait to dive into our new adventure and watch our players embrace what lies before them."
Liberty's inaugural 2019 Atlantic Sun Conference schedule was released on July 7. The Lady Flames' ASUN opener will be on March 17 at Florida Gulf Coast.
