As part of its coverage of Liberty's August Training Camp, continues its position previews today talking about the Flames' offensive line.

The Flames offensive line is one of the deepest positions on Liberty's 2018 roster in terms of returning starters. Four of the five players slated to start up front for the Flames finished 2017 with a combined 43 total starts.

Entering preseason training camp, Liberty's projected starting lineup was Julio Lozano at left tackle (11 starts in 2017), Ethan Crawford at left guard (11 starts), Thomas Sargeant at center (11 starts), Dontae Duff at right guard (11 starts) and Tristan Schultz (no starts, but nine games played).

Liberty's offensive line allowed 15 sacks in 2017, its lowest total since 2013 (14) and its second best showing during the six-year tenure of head coach Turner Gill. Additionally, the group helped protect quarterback Stephen Calvert, allowing the sophomore to set school records in passing yards (3,363), completions (257) and touchdowns (29).

Rise With Us: The Process

On Feb. 16, 2017, the NCAA approved Liberty's waiver request to begin the two-year FBS reclassification process. Liberty completed its final season as a FCS program in 2017, playing as a member of the Big South Conference.

The Flames will host their first FBS home game against Old Dominion on Sept. 1, the first of four FBS teams to visit Williams Stadium in 2018 to meet the FBS reclassification criteria. The 2018 home schedule also features FBS matchups against North Texas (Sept. 22), Troy (Oct. 13) and New Mexico State (Nov. 24).

In the event that Liberty is invited to the AutoNation Cure Bowl, Flames Club members will have priority for tickets and other associated events and privileges.
