2019 Liberty Track & Field Schedule

Liberty Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Brant Tolsma announced his team's 2019 indoor and outdoor track & field schedules today. The Flames will play host to five meets this year, headlined by the 2019 ASUN Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Home Sweet Home
The third season of competition at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex will feature four home events. The Flames will race at their home track for three straight weeks, including the Liberty Kickoff (Jan. 25-26), Liberty Flames Invite (Feb. 2) and fifth annual Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational (Feb. 8-9).

Liberty's inaugural appearance at the ASUN Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 22-23) will mark the second straight year the meet takes place in Lynchburg.

The Liberty Twilight Qualifier (May 1) will serve as the Flames' lone outdoor home meet at the Matthes-Hopkins Track Complex in 2019, and the fixture will include a senior recognition ceremony.

Charting the Conference Championships
One week after hosting the ASUN Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Flames and Lady Flames will compete in the IC4A/ECAC Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships. The meet will once again take place at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center, March 1-3 in Boston, Mass.

Liberty will wrap up its first season of ASUN competition at the 2019 ASUN Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The meet is scheduled for May 10-11 at North Florida's Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.

NCAA Nuggets
For the second time in four years, the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala., March 8-9.

Two weeks after the ASUN meet, Liberty will return to Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla., for the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round meet, May 23-25.

With Oregon's Hayward Field being completely rebuilt, Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas will welcome the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, June 5-8. The facility has not hosted the NCAA national meet since 2004.

Welcome Back
The Flames and Lady Flames will open the 2019 campaign at the Hokie Invitational, Jan. 18-19 in Blacksburg, Va. Liberty will make its first trip to recently renovated Rector Field House since sweeping the 2016 Big South men's and women's indoor team titles there.
