Fall 2018 Schedule
The Liberty men's tennis squad has announced its fall 2018 schedule, featuring several challenging tournaments.
"The team is hungry to compete against the nation's best players this fall," stated Liberty second-year head coach Derek Schwandt. "I'm excited for our guys to continue to grow as leaders this season."
The Flames will begin their fall schedule at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Canada F6 Futures in Niagara, Ontario, Canada, Sept. 3-9 at the Club at White Oaks Resort & Spa. Meanwhile, they will also be competing at the Silverado Invitational (Sept. 7-9) in Napa Valley, Calif., hosted by No. 19 Oklahoma State
Liberty will be tested at its second ITF Futures Tournament at the Canada F7 Futures in Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Sept. 10-16). For a second straight season, the Flames will host the Liberty University Invitational, held Sept. 14-16 at the Cook Tennis Center.
Tulsa will serve as the host site for the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Tennis Championship (Sept. 29-Oct. 8), featuring the nation's best players. Two years ago, Eddie Gutierrez, Chase Burton and Vince Salas represented the Flames at the tournament as underclassmen, and Liberty will participate in the event again, this fall.
After hosting the ITA Division I Men's Tennis Atlantic Regional in 2017, Liberty will travel to Blacksburg, Va., for this year's ITA Atlantic Regional at Virginia Tech's Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center (Oct. 18-22). The Flames' fall slate concludes with the University of Texas Invitational, hosted by No. 12 Texas, Nov. 9-11.
Liberty's inaugural 2019 Atlantic Sun Conference schedule was released on July 9. The remainder of the spring schedule will be unveiled at a later date.
