Women's Soccer Unveils Non-Conference Schedule

Liberty women's soccer announced its nine-game non-conference schedule for the 2018 season that features three games at Osborne Stadium.

"This is probably the toughest schedule Liberty women's soccer has ever put together," head coach Lang Wedemeyer said. "The challenges we will face in our non-conference season will toughen us up for the rigors of the ASUN Conference. It will be an exciting year for Liberty soccer."

The Flames will face four schools from Power 5 conferences, starting with an exhibition contest versus Virginia Tech at home on Aug. 10. After Liberty's exhibition game, the Lady Flames will begin the regular season with three straight games at Osborne Stadium, starting with Elon on Aug. 16. Liberty's home contests against Elon, George Washington (Aug. 19) and LSU (Aug. 23) will be the only games the Flames will host during non-conference play.

Elon will be one of three teams (William & Mary and James Madison) that Liberty will face from the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) throughout the non-conference slate. Liberty will face some of the best teams in the CAA, as James Madison finished fourth last season, William & Mary ended in fifth place and appeared in the CAA Championship semifinals and Elon finished in seventh place.

Highlighting Liberty's first homestand of the season is LSU as it will be just the second time in school history Liberty has hosted an SEC opponent and first since 2015 when Liberty played Tennessee.

After Liberty's three-game homestand to begin the season, the Lady Flames will hit the road for seven straight games away from Osborne Stadium. Starting in North Carolina, the Flames will face a familiar foe in Campbell (Aug. 26). The Flames will conclude their North Carolina trip as they face Charlotte (Aug. 30).

During the seven-game road trip, Liberty will face ACC opponents in back-to-back games starting at Virginia (Sept. 6), followed up with a game against Clemson (Sept. 9). It will be the first time in school history that Liberty has faced Power-5 schools in back-to-back games.
